Nursery Progress

We are so excited about how the nursery is turning out - it's going to be beyond cute when we are finished! I'll just post all the pics from start to where we are today.

Here is the room before:

And here's all the stuff that was in that room, which is piled into our guest room now

Starting to paint

(that's our friend Matt who very kindly helped Griffin do most of the painting)

So once we had the base color on we let that dry for a couple days then taped off for the stripe

And the finished stripe (4 coats of paint later!)
It turned out SO good and looks awesome in the room.
The poor puppies were locked out of the room the whole time... they look like they're in jail!

Once we finished painting we got the carpets steam cleaned then once those dried we were able to move in some of the furniture we have. Also, instead of getting art for the room we decided to go with wall decals that will fit our room theme. Here is the decal before
And after

And the room with everything we have so far!

(the sign above the closet is one that Griffin has had since he was a little boy, it says Griffin & Son on it and couldn't be more perfect now!)

So that's our progress so far! We're loving how it's all coming together and will post updates as we finish more!

Week 25

I'm definitely feeling pregnant this week. I've been so tired these past few days... I can't tell if it's from the cloudy, rainy weather or my lack of quality sleep and general feeling of largeness. Whatever it is, I could definitely do with some sunshine and a day off to relax and rest. We were busy all weekend doing stuff around the house and before I knew it it was time to go back for another week of work. On the plus side, we've gotten so much accomplished around the house and on the nursery. I'm going home at lunch today to finish up one final thing and then I'll post pictures of our progress this afternoon. The nursery looks so good and is coming together great - it's going to be such a cute room and will be perfect for our little boy!

Here are the pics for this week...

And this week we are a rutabaga (random, I know!). Baby weighs about 1 1/2 pounds and is about 13 1/2 inches from head to heel.

Baby Gear

This weekend we got a belated gift from the the Easter Bunny (or Griffin's parents, whichever you'd like to call them). It's so fun to get stuff like this for baby and makes it more and more real that we will have an actual baby (not just a tiny dog) to put in this stuff! We couldn't wait so we put it together and tested it out... I think Bernie really liked it, so hopefully our baby boy will like it even more!!

Week 24

6 Months!! I can't believe it's been 6 months already - time is flying by! We've been pretty productive this past weekend with the nursery. We moved all of the furniture out and painted. We're getting the carpets steam cleaned in a few days and then we'll be able to start moving stuff in! I'll have before and after pictures later this week so you can see our progress.

In other news, baby is still kicking/punching... so much so that now we can see it from the outside. It's so crazy to look down and see my belly move and to know that there is a tiny human inside me making it move... seriously crazy!

Some of our friends just had a baby boy two weeks ago so we took them dinner last night and got to see the little guy. It was the first time Griff and myself had been around a really new baby so we both got to hold him for a while and it definitely made it sink in that in a few short months we will have one of these in our home. It just made me so excited and so ready for our boy to be here. We can't wait to be parents!

For now, here are this week's belly pics and I'll post nursery pics later this week.

This week we are an ear of corn! Baby is about 1 1/4 pounds and now 12 inches long!

Week 23

I thought I'd just post a run down of where we are with everything so far... be warned some of it is really random!

How far along? 23 weeks!
Total weight gain: about 9 pounds
Stretch marks? Not any new ones... but as for the existing ones... still there!
Sleep: I'm a back-sleeper & that's impossible these days, so I'm having trouble getting comfy & staying asleep, not to mention waking up to pee several times during the night is not helping.
Best moment this week: I had my first stranger comment on my belly! It's a good moment because it means I finally really look pregnant and people don't have to wonder if I've just gained a few extra pounds :)
Movement: He has been kicking/punching up a storm the past few days. I don't know what's changed but I am all of the sudden feeling so much movement and it's amazing! Only once has he hit around my bladder... everything else has been around my belly button or just below.
Food cravings: milk, milk, milk and still mexican food, which if it didn't give me such incredible heartburn I would eat it every day, but at least the milk helps!
Belly Button in or out? Still in for the most part - it's starting to look like it could pop any day though.
What I miss: Sleeping through the night (which I know will not be regained for probably the next 10 years), and margaritas (especially with all the mexican food lately)
Worst part of pregnancy currently: HEARTBURN! I get it all the time and am downing Tums like there is no tomorrow.
What I am looking forward to: painting the nursery this weekend!!
Milestones: Griffin finally felt the baby kick last night!! He was so amazed and it was so great to get to share that feeling with him. I don't think I've ever seen Griff smile in amazement like he did last night!

And here are our weekly pics...

This week we are a mango... and this time the weight matches the fruit! He is about a pound, maybe slightly over and about 11 inches long.

Week 22

Still growing... still very round! :)

In other news, we made some progress this weekend on the nursery. Griff's parents let us have some furniture they were using in a spare bedroom and it worked out perfectly. We got a dresser and a bookshelf (that we'll be using as a changing table). On Saturday I got out the power sander (yes, I can use power tools... my dad taught me well!) and sanded the dresser then repainted it to match our nursery furniture. Here is the before:
And the after! It looks great and will go perfect!

Griff has started cleaning out his office so we can move everything into the spare bedroom. I think we will probably paint in the next few weeks so that we can start moving the furniture into the room.

I had a dr. appointment today and everything went fine. I'm going every 4 weeks right now, and starting in my 3rd trimester I'll go about every 2 weeks. The dr. said everything was going fine. I didn't have an ultrasound today, but she listened to the heartbeat and measured me and all that. So I'll go back at 26 weeks and then the visit after that is when we'll have our next ultrasound. We already can't wait to our little guy again!!

And the site where I usually get the weekly fruit/vegetable comparison from has started doing it by the month now - which is no fun to stay at the same fruit/vegetable for 4 weeks! So I found another site that compares the baby's size to a quarter... just to put it in perspective. So this week, he is a spaghetti squash and weighs just under 1 pound and measures just under 12 inches!

Week 21

And I keep getting more and more round!

Things are still pretty calm and uneventful around here. We've made some progress though in one area - we registered! It was so fun to pick out the things we'll need for baby and just made it more real that the things we were picking out were actually going to be used by our son in just a few short months - crazy! We registered at Target and Babies R Us so if you want to check it out you can just search by either of our names on their websites.

Depending on how much energy we (and by we I mean me) have we may try to start on the nursery this weekend. We are borrowing some furniture from Griff's parents and we need to sand and repaint them to go in the nursery, so hopefully we can start on that and get things going. I'm definitely in the nesting mode right now, but somehow laying around and being lazy is seeming to win out at the moment! I guess I should enjoy it now while I can! :)

An of course, our weekly fruit/baby comparison... we're a banana!
